Amanda Blake

Amanda Blake was an American actress, best known for her role of the red-haired saloon proprietress "Miss Kitty Russell" on the western television series Gunsmoke. Frank Gilbert, her husband, was an entrepreneur as well who founded one of the most successful programs that breed captive cheetahs. This actress is also an animal lover. Everyone has heard about PAWS at the very least. It is a volunteer-run organization that aid animals across the globe. Sometimes they help find new homes for dogs and cats or donate to support the wildlife. Amanda Blake was a person who has contributed to the establishment of PAWS. In 1967, she met Pat Derby (a co-founder of PAWS) in the course of "Gunsmoke" filming. Pat was employed as an animal trainer on set and Amanda was in the role as Miss Kitty. In 1984, the year that PAWS was established, an actress donated much to the charity and left substantial material support for the organisation after her death: she left her estate, which included a $400,000 home in Los Angeles, to Derby's animal refuge.
