ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born July 2nd, 1989 to Pamela Morgan and Michael Morgan. Morgan and her sisters Jeni and Jeri were raised in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan played many games as a child but only started to play soccer when she reached the age of 14. Morgan joined the Cypress Elite club team and won the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship. She also placed third place in the bracket for under-19 players. Morgan was able to continue to improve her soccer abilities at Diamond Bar High School. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has selected Morgan as an All-American Athlete. She also played for both state and regional divisions in the Olympic Development Program (ODP). Morgan continued her soccer career at UC Berkeley where she was the California Golden Bears' leading scorer in the first year of her career. The team was able to reach the NCAA Tournament in four years, and two times to the second round. Morgan was one of four finalists for Honda Sports Award. She was also the first Hermann Trophy finalist from her school. Morgan graduated from Berkeley in the beginning of the 2010 semester and was ranked third in the top scorers of all time in goals, points and assists. Morgan managed to have soccer careers at the college and national levels during her college education. Morgan was injured in her ACL in her first season as an Berkeley player. She was not able to practice with the U.S. Under-20 Women's Soccer team until April 2008. In Mexico Morgan scored her debut international soccer goal during the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan was also part of the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. Her team earned an Olympic gold medal. She also scored her first international goal at the CONCACAF Women's United 20 Championship in Mexico. One of those goals was a victory over Italy which secured the U.S. team the final spot at the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player on the team , and he was instrumental in leading it to victory against France. Morgan was the team's youngest player, and helped them win against Japan.
